Step 1: Measure Your Wall
Start by measuring the height and width of the wall you are panelling. Most acoustic wall panels come in standard dimensions, so calculate how many panels you need to cover your wall and whether you will need to cut any to size for the edges.

Step 2: Prepare the Surface
Your wall must be clean, dry, and structurally sound before you start. Wipe down with a damp cloth to remove dust and grease, and allow to dry fully. If your wall has loose plaster, flaking paint, or damp, fix those issues first adhesive will not bond reliably to a poor surface.
For painted walls, lightly sanding the surface can improve adhesion. Bare plaster should be primed before installation.
Step 3: Plan Your Layout
Before applying a single panel, lay them out on the floor to visualise the finished wall. Decide where you want panels to start and end, and mark a level horizontal guideline on your wall with a pencil and spirit level. Starting from the centre of the wall and working outward gives a more symmetrical, professional result.
Step 4: Apply the Adhesive
Apply adhesive to the back of each panel in a grid or zigzag pattern, covering the edges and centre. Avoid applying adhesive within 10mm of the panel edges to prevent squeeze-out. A grab adhesive works best as it holds panels firmly without the need for pinning or propping while it cures.

Step 5: Fix the Panels to the Wall
Press each panel firmly against the wall, aligning with your pencil guideline. Hold for 30–60 seconds and check with a spirit level that it is straight before moving on. Work across the wall in rows, leaving consistent gaps between panels if your design calls for spacing.
If your panels have a grooved or slatted design, make sure the grooves all run in the same direction for a consistent, designer finish.
Step 6: Cut Panels to Size
Use a fine-tooth saw or multi-tool to cut panels for the edges, around sockets, or to fill any gaps. Mark your cut line clearly with a pencil and tape before cutting to avoid splintering. Always cut with the decorative face upward to minimise surface damage.
For curved or irregular cuts around corners or architraves, a jigsaw works well.
Step 7: Add Finishing Trims
Trims give your installation a clean, professional edge at the top, bottom, sides, and any exposed corners. They also conceal any minor gaps between panels and the wall edge. Measure, cut, and apply trims with adhesive in the same way as the panels.
